June 11th, 2008 - Version 1.9.3
Limited Time Frame Synchronization Speed - Speed for Mac OS users who limit their synchronization period has been greatly improved.
June 3rd, 2008 - Version 1.9.1
*This is a Mac OS release only
Fixed Apple iCal events deleted when using a synchronization time frame - Users who completely synchronized an Apple iCal calendar with Calgoo Connect and then modified the synchronization time frame settings in preferences saw events outside of that time frame automatically deleted. This issue has been resolved in this release.
May 29th, 2008 - Version 1.9.0
Synchronization by date range - You can now determine the time frame of the events to be synchronized. Do this by accessing the Synchronization Time Frame settings in Preferences. This feature allows you to update events only in the time frame that matters the most. By using a smaller time frame, synchronization should complete faster, especially with larger calendars.
Removal of Mac firewall messages - Mac OS users will no longer be prompted to allow Calgoo Connect to access the internet.
Faster addition of Apple iCal calendars - Mac OS users creating connectors with an Apple iCal calendar should see a very significant improvement in speed when listing the available iCal calendars using the "Add Connector Wizard."
Improved Event Duplication Removal - If automatic event duplication removal is enabled, a Cleanup Connector will be performed when adding a new connector or sync source during the next synchronization. Users will see a vast improvement in the number of removed duplicates, especially when adding new sync sources.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Timezone Related Problems:
- It is strongly recommended that Calgoo Connect users do not change their timezone settings on Windows or Mac OS at this time. There is an serious issue which may cause event times to save with an incorrect timezone.
- There are a number of timezones which do not work properly when synchronizing with Google calendar. More information about this issue can be found here and its bug report.
- Some timezones may cause Apple iCal users to see all day events shifted by one day
Apple iCal - Reminders are not synchronized with Apple iCal due to incompatibilities between Calgoo Calendar reminders and iCal. Additionally, attendees without email addresses are synchronized, but cannot be displayed in Calgoo Calendar. The simultaneous use of other sync products might cause delays.
Vista and Outlook - Due to the security in Vista, Calendar cannot establish a connection to Outlook for synchronization or creating a new calendar unless both Calendar and Outlook are running with the same permissions. A fix for users can be found here.
30 Boxes Synchronization - 30 Boxes does not support all of the elements of an event that Calgoo Hub Plugin supports. Only event summaries, descriptions, time, tags, and location can be synchronized. Invitations can be modified in other calendar applications, but cannot be updated to 30 Boxes. Additionally, 30 Boxes does not support all forms of recurrence, so some recurring events may not be displayed properly in 30 Boxes. Accept/Decline status for invitations cannot be synchronized to 30 Boxes, so changes made to Accept/Decline status in 30 Boxes may not appear in your other Calgoo Hub Calendar.
No Multiple Reminders - Google Calendar supports multiple reminders at different intervals, but Calgoo does not. When synchronizing events from Google; if the event contains more than one reminder, only the first one is synchronized.
Different handling of recurring events - For a recurring event with a start date being a Monday but set to occur every Tuesday, Google Calendar counts the first Monday as one of the occurrences, but Outlook Calendar does not. Calgoo Calendar currently follows the behaviour in Google Calendar.
Syncing back causes Attendees' events duplication - If you synchronize calendar Google1 with Outlook1, and then synchronize Outlook1 with Google2, your event's attendees will be invited again, thus duplicating the event in their Google Calendar. This is due to a design incompatibility with Google Calendar. To prevent your attendees from seeing these duplicated events, you may ask them to switch off the automatically add invitations to my calendar option in Google Calendar.
Attendees cannot modify recurring events - In Outlook Calendar, changes made to an existing recurring event in which you are an attendee, but not the author, will not synchronize properly to Google Calendar. This does not affect any other events. This is due to a server side defect on Google Calendar.
Apple iCal 3.0.3 Recurring Event Sync
Users who have upgraded Apple iCal to version 3.0.3, which was included in the Mac OS 10.5.3 update, might experience some synchronization problems with Apple iCal.
- Recurring events with exceptions may not synchronize properly between Apple iCal and 30 Boxes or Calgoo Hub.
- Synchronizing an Apple iCal calendar with Google may fail when the Google calendar contains invited recurring events with exceptions.
Mac Java 6 Incompatibility
Calgoo Connect is not currently compatible with Java 6 for the Mac which was included in the Mac OS 10.5.3 update. If Connect does not run properly, please change your Java Settings to prefer Java 5:
- Open up the Java Preferences located in /applications/utilities/java
- Under the "Java Runtime Settings", ensure that Java/J2SE 5.0 is the first item in the list by dragging it to the top.
May 12th, 2008 - Version 1.8.0
Improved Mac Installation - Calgoo Connect for Mac OS X now includes a drag and drop installer to make it easier to install and update Calgoo Connect.
Improved Multi-User support - Each user now has their own database, layout and logfile. The new location for these files is in "Documents and Settings/username/Calgoo Connect" for Windows users and "Users/username/Calgoo Connect" for Mac users. To backup your database, copy the "data" folder you find there. Also, this logfile will be the one you send to us should you need support.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Apple iCal - Reminders are not synchronized with Apple iCal due to incompatibilities between Calgoo Connect reminders and iCal. Additionally, attendees without email addresses are synchronized, but cannot be displayed in Calgoo Connect. Allday events might shift by one day when displayed in iCal on MacOS 10.5 when using certain timezones. The simultaneous use of other sync products might cause delays.
Changing Accept/Decline Status - Users changing their accept/decline status on Google events that they did not create will see an error during synchronization. It is recommended that users do not modify their attendee status at this time. For more information, please see the bug report on Google.
Vista and Outlook - Due to the security in Vista, Connect cannot establish a connection to Outlook for synchronization or creating a new calendar unless both Connect and Outlook are running with the same permissions. A fix for users can be found here.
30 Boxes Synchronization - 30 Boxes does not support all of the elements of an event that Calgoo Connect supports. Accept/Decline status for invitations cannot be synchronized to 30 Boxes, so changes made to Accept/Decline status in 30 Boxes may not appear in your other Calgoo Connect Calendar.
Calgoo Connect currently follows the behaviour in Google Calendar.
Modifications in Calendar may not be recognized - Modifications to events during synchronization in Calgoo Connect may not be updated to external sync sources. It is recommended that you do not modify, create, or delete events during synchronization.
April 29th, 2008 - Version 1.7.1
Maintenance release - This release fixes several minor issues, and does not provide any new features.
April 24th, 2008 - Version 1.7.0
Apple iCal synchronization - Calgoo Connect now synchronizes with Apple iCal on Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5. You can synchronize your Apple iCal calendars with Google, 30 Boxes, and Calgoo Hub.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Apple iCal - Reminders are not synchronized with Apple iCal as part of an effort to reduce duplicate reminders being pushed to online calendar sources. Allday events might shift by one day when displayed in iCal on MacOS 10.5 when using certain timezones. The simultaneous use of other sync products might cause delays.
Event Duplications - If two Google calendars are synchronized together, attendees on each event will see the event duplicate. This is due to how Google handles new events with attendees. It is not recommended at this time that you synchronize 2 Google calendars together.
Connector Cleanup Utility - Existing connectors can be manually "cleaned up" using the new calendar cleanup utility. This utility allows you to delete duplicate events without having to do it manually in your calendar client.
Multi-user support - Calgoo Calendar has improved its multi-user support by moving the database. Each user will now have their own database located in My Documents->Calgoo Connect. No action is required by users who are upgrading to this version.
Enhanced Timezone support - Calgoo Connect now respects timezones on a per event basis to ensure events display properly regardless of the origin of the event.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Event Duplications - If two Google calendars are synchronized together, attendees on each event will see the event duplicate. This is due to how Google handles new events with attendees. It is not recommended at this time that you synchronize 2 Google calendars together.
Syncing back causes Attendees' events duplication - If you synchronize calendar Google1 with Outlook1, and then synchronize Outlook1 with Google2, your event's attendees will be invited again, thus duplicating the event in their Google Calendar. Outlook Security Warnings - When connecting to Outlook to list calendars or to synchronize calendars, the "Allow Access" popup should no longer appear. If you have password protected data files, however, you may be prompted to enter a password to access this file.
Enhanced Outlook Support - Calgoo Connect now loads multiple .pst files. If you are using an Exchange server, you will only be able to choose calendars from .pst files you have currently loaded in Outlook. If you are not using an Exchange server, you will be able to see calendars in all .pst files, regardless of whether they are loaded or not. It is also possible to now create new Outlook Calendars from within Calgoo Connect.
Event Duplication Improvement - Calendar sources that were previously synchronized will no longer duplicate events when setting up a new calendar which synchronizes the same sources. This feature is available when synchronizing with Calgoo Hub, Outlook, and Google calendars. This feature is not fully supported with .ics and 30 Boxes calendars.
30 Boxes Synchronization - Calgoo Connect now allows you to synchronize with 30 Boxes. Event summaries, descriptions, time, locations, tags, and attendees can be synchronized.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Event Duplications - If two Google calendars are synchronized together, attendees on each event will see the event duplicate. This is due to how Google handles new events with attendees. It is not recommended at this time that you synchronize 2 Google calendars together.
Syncing back causes Attendees' events duplication - By synchronizing calendar Google1 with Outlook1, and then synchronizing Outlook1 with Google2, will cause your events' attendees to be invited again, thus duplicating the event in their Google Calendar. This is due to a design incompatibility with Google Calendar. When you added Google2, the original events from Google1 will automatically invite their attendees again. To prevent your attendees from seeing these duplicated events, you may ask them to switch off this option in Google Calendar.
Vista and Outlook - Due to the security in Vista, Connect cannot establish a connection to Outlook for synchronization or creating a new calendar unless both Connect and Outlook are running with the same permissions. A fix for users can be found here.
30 Boxes Synchronization - 30 Boxes does not support all of the elements of an event that Calgoo Hub Plugin supports. Only event summaries, descriptions, time, tags, and location can be synchronized. Invitation-Duplication Resolution - For users who use Outlook 2007 to access their Gmail and Google Calendar, we have introduced improved duplication fixes. Now invitations received via Gmail in Outlook 2007 which are automatically added to your Outlook calendar will no longer duplicate when synchronizing with your Google calendar.
Synchronize many calendars - We have added the ability to synchronize more than 2 calendars together as needed in a single Connector. This feature is available through the custom connector option of the add connector wizard or by adding an additional source to an existing connector.
Improved Connector Details - See which calendars you are synchronizing at a glance and manage your Connector through an improved details dialog.
Synchronization Improvements - We have been able to improve synchronization between Outlook and Google, especially resolving many issues with events that have attendees and recurring events.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Event Duplications - If a connector is created, deleted, and then a new connector is created using the same calendars as before, all events are duplicated. If the Connector synchronizes a Google calendar, attendees on any duplicated events will also receive duplicated events. If two Google calendars are synchronized together, the same event duplication problem will occur for attendees on each event.
Outlook Security Popup - You may receive a popup from Outlook when attempting to connect or synchronize with Outlook Calendar. Should this happen, change the access time to the maximum allowed (10 minutes) and choose "Allow Access." Not doing so will prevent Calgoo Connect from accessing your Outlook Calendar information.
November 19th, 2007 - Version 1.3.0
No sign-up - All free Calgoo products will no longer require you to sign-up for a Calgoo account. This will help streamline the download and installation process. An account is still required for all paid versions of Calgoo.
Price Change - Calgoo Connect has ended its early bird promotion. Calgoo Connect is now $29.95 USD / year.
KNOWN ISSUES:
No Multiple Reminders - Google Calendar supports multiple reminders at different interval, but Calgoo does not. When synchronizing events from Google, if the event contains more than one reminder, only the first one is synchronized.
Different handling of recurring events - For a recurring event with a start date being a Monday but set to occur every Tuesday, Google Calendar counts the first Monday as one of the occurrences, but Outlook Calendar does not.
Does not work in Windows Server 2003 - Calgoo currently does not support Windows Server 2003.
Accepting invitation causes duplication - Accepting a Google email invitation in Outlook Email via Outlook's "Accept" button while also accepting via Google's "Yes I'm going" will add the event to both your Outlook and Google Calendar. If you synchronize these calendars, the event will appear duplicated. This is due to a design incompatibility between Google and Outlook.
Attendees cannot modify recurring event - In Outlook Calendar, changes made to an existing recurring event in which you are an attendee, but not the author, will not synchronize properly to Google Calendar. This does not affect any other events. This is due to a server side defect on Google Calendar.
Modifications during synchronization are not recognized - Event changes in the middle of synchronization are not recognized.
November 8th, 2007 - Version 1.2.1
Maintenance release - Fixed an issue related to synchronizing a Google Calendar to an Outlook Calendar. If your Outlook does not have a default mail account, and contains events where some attendees do not have an email address, Calgoo could not synchronize your events from Outlook to Google.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Does not work in Windows Server 2003 - Calgoo currently does not support Windows Server 2003.
Accepting invitation causes duplication - Accepting a Google email invitation in Outlook Email via Outlook's "Accept" button while also accepting via Google's "Yes I'm going" will add the event to both your Outlook and Google Calendar. This does not affect any other events. This is due to a server side defect on Google Calendar.
Modifications during synchronization are not recognized - Event changes in the middle of synchronization are not recognized.
Cannot sync more than 5000 events per calendar at a time - If your calendar contains more than 5000 events, the first time you synchronize, you will only get the first 5000. The next time you synchronize, you will receive the next 5000, and so forth. This is due to a limitation on Google Calendar.
Cannot manually add attendee from Outlook 2003 - In an existing Outlook event which already synchronizes with Calgoo, new attendees added by typing manually the notation "Attendee Name <attendee@email.com>" are ignored by Calgoo. You may only add a new attendee by the email address only, or by adding an existing Outlook contact. This only affects Outlook 2003.
October 30th, 2007 - Version 1.2.0
Automatic Sync - Calgoo Connect automatically synchronizes your Outlook and Google calendar, connecting you to your colleagues on the other platform.
Small Footprint - Calgoo Connect is a background application. It runs from your system tray, and doesn't bother you when you don't need it. Calgoo Connect uses only half the memory resources in comparison to Calgoo Calendar.
Accounts management - Calgoo Connect now allows you to manage multiple Google accounts easily. Calgoo is able to automatically remember your last used Google account and password to save you from the hassle of entering it every time.
